The non-profit Sound of the Rockies Chorus have acted as ‘Cupid’ near Valentines Day and have offered this fund raising service to those in love in Denver annually for over 20 years.
The quartets will go most anywhere in the area dressed to impress and will serenade any woman or man or several people with two sweet love songs. Most often it happens in the workplace or at a restaurant and is a complete surprise for the recipient, making it an unforgettable emotional event.
In addition to four-part a cappella harmony singing, the quartets present a silk red rose, a small box of chocolates, and a card with a personalized message and will of course be willing to pose with the recipient for a keepsake photo.. The Sound of the Rockies is the performing unit of the Denver Mile High Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society and has been organized since the 1940s. The full chorus of over 130 men entertain throughout the Denver-metro area at community events such as the Light the Lights at the Civic Center Park, have performed the national anthem at several Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos games, and have been the featured performer at several local church community arts series to name a few. The Sound of the Rockies chorus also performs at several private paid performances throughout the year and holiday season. Additionally, they compete as representatives of the Rocky Mountain District and have placed in the top five choruses at international level competition for the last 5 years. The group also presents two annual shows at the Newman Center at the University of Denver, this year on March 5th and December 9th and 10th.
