Rehearsal Hall Quickly Becomes Emergency Shelter

Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, our Thursday night rehearsal quarters, became the refuge for thousands of Arapahoe High School students less than 15 hours after we had vacated the building.  In the immediate aftermath of the shooting at Arapahoe High, about 200 yards to the north, Shepherd of the Hills opened its doors and became a safe haven for many terrified students who had to exit the school without their coats.  In a large room where close harmony had echoed just a few hours before, it was now a cacophony of crying, emergency phone calls, and overwrought parents straining to gain sight of their children.
